PreK-12 Immigration Literature Guide:
Stories for Visibility, Understanding and Transformation

The guide features a carefully curated collection of 100 recently published PreK-12 books that showcase the transformative power of immigration-centered stories. This collection offers an entry point into the humanization of immigration, introducing readers to resilient characters, courageous journeys, and acts of solidarity, while confronting racism, xenophobia, and healing from trauma.

The guide is organized in four sections:

  1. early childhood and elementary picture books

  2. upper elementary chapter books

  3. middle school, and

  4. high school.

Each section highlights authors to showcase the people behind the stories, and also provides book summaries, discussion questions and multimodal resources to foster deep and complex classroom conversations. We invite you to explore the guide and share the impact these stories have in classrooms, schools, and communities!
