CUNY-IIE was delighted to host an in-person workshop, titled, "Cultivating Intentional Support for Undocumented Students" developed and presented by the UndocuEdu Team at CUNY-IIE.
This workshop was geared towards individuals who educate immigrant youth and seek guidance on programs tailored for immigrant youth, with a focus on fostering advocacy and self-advocacy skills.

Through this workshop, participants delved into essential facets of crafting inclusive programs and environments that embrace diversity and ensure equitable access for all individuals regardless of background. The focus was on empowering attendees with the tools and insights necessary to cultivate advocacy and self-advocacy skills. Our agenda covered:
Gaining Insight into the Needs of Immigrant Youth
Explored the challenges faced by undocumented students, facilitated group discussions to share insights, and identified support areas for improvement.
Navigating a Professional Space
Insights into professional development opportunities and strategies for success in professional settings through role-playing scenarios and group discussions.
Establishing Boundaries as Individuals Working with Immigrant Youth
Highlighted the importance of setting personal and professional boundaries, engaged in small group exercises to identify boundaries, and discussed strategies for boundary-setting.
Self-Advocating for Training, Pay Equity, and Support
Developed advocacy skills and techniques through presentations, interactive workshops, and group discussions to effectively advocate for training, pay, and support.
Best Practices
Reviewed best practices for supporting immigrant youth, examined case studies of successful programs, and brainstormed to develop guidelines for implementing best practices.
